Friday night EPiC had the pleasure of attending our first event hosted by Damsels in Design, a professional networking organization for women in the design industry. Held in the midtown Knoll Showroom and hosted by Damsels founder Jennifer Markas, the evening consisted of a cocktail hour followed by Markas’s interview with Dorothy Cosonas, KnollTextiles Creative Director.

During the lively interview-style presentation, Cosonas emphasized the importance of maintaining a hands-on approach to design in an era of computer-driven graphics, stressing the simple beauty of pencil on paper sketches. At EPiC we too rely on hand-drawn sketches to communicate with clients and craftsmen, so it was refreshing to hear that a big company like Knoll still believes in this old school approach.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Damsels in Design / KnollTextiles event and are excited to have found a group that promotes women in different facets of design.
